Bra Fitting Guide

Bra Fitting Guide

Finding the perfect bra is essential in helping you feel comfortable and supported. The correct size bra can make you look slimmer, improve posture and even help your clothes fit better. On average, research shows that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size, generally this is because you buy a bra with too larger a back size and the cup is too small.

How do you measure your bra size?

We recommend you visit our store and our bra fit experts will recommend the perfect bra size for you, a tape measure can't tell you much more than how wide your ribs are not what bra you may need!

What happens at a bra fitting?

A bra fitting is not a measuring service, so one of our expert bra consultant will work with you to find the bra which not only fits you perfectly, but also suits your requirements and shape. The consultant will ask you to remove your top and keep your bra on and then fit you in either your existing bra, and we may fit using a bra of our choice. We assess the fit of your current bra and make recommendations to you. She will then fit you in a selection of bras and advise you on which bra style best suits your bust type. There is no pressure to buy we just want to educate you on how a good fitting bra is supposed to look and feel!

How do you know a bra fits properly?

A well fitted bra should feel snug all around your ribs, the wires/or bottom of the cup should be underneath the crease of the breast and must not sit on top of it. If when you lift your arms up you pop out the bottom, or the bra band lifts up your band is too big and you need to get refitted. If centre piece whether wired or not is not sitting flat against your chest this could mean you need a larger cup and a smaller band to pull this in. Your breast tissue should be fully in the cups no spilling out the front, bottom or sides! If you feel like you're experiencing all these problems then come and visit us!

Bra Tips

How do you put on a bra properly?

Put your arms through the bra straps, positioning your breasts into the cups and fasten the bra to ensure it feels secure and fits flat at the back. We recommend fastening your bra on the first(loosest) hook so that you have the option to tighten your bra as it stretches over time. Adjust the straps so your bust feels supported and check the cup edge does not gape away from the bust.

How do you hide bra straps?

We offer a variety of different bra styles to ensure you can hide bra straps when wearing different outfits. Choose a strapless bra when wearing a strapless dress or top. A multi-way bra can be worn with the strap in the halter neck position for outfits that are cut away at the neckline. If you have a racer back top then you can buy a clip which attaches to your straps to bring the straps closer to the centre of your back and prevent them from showing.

How do you wear a bra with a plunging dress?

We have a range of bras for low cut or sheer panel dresses. A plungebra or a bra with a very deep front will give a great shape but won't show through your dresses. If you have a smaller or pert bust and feel comfortable not wearing a bra, we recommend using fashion tape to adhere your breasts to your outfits.

What bra should you wear with a backless dress?

There are a variety of styles of bras to wear with backless dresses, including bras with a clear back panel and lower back bras. Alternatively, you could try alter back to adjust a current bra, alter backs allow you to take your bra strap lower while not comprising as much on the look from the front! If you want to make a statement, choose a bra with beautiful lace details and let it show through your dress.
